BEHIND THE MUSIC

From the start of my music endeavors, I have always had the intention to create music across a wide variety of genres over time. I started with hip-hop and rapping because to me, it’s the easiest style to get your feet wet with and I had no idea what I was doing. I don’t like waiting around though, so I got to work making tunes and learned along the way. I still have a whole lot to learn.

My new song “Liars” is my very first attempt at a rock song and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Not only was it a brand-new vocal style for me, but it was also a new production style that we hadn’t tried yet. However, it came together pretty naturally and I think it’s a style you will hear/see from me a lot more in the future, especially as I get better with my instruments, singing techniques, and overall comfortability with my voice. My next rock project will probably lean more toward a new school metal sound with a mixture of screaming and clean vocals. It’s always hard to say when you get to creating though. Things can change fast in the studio depending on the vibes. You never really know what you’ll walk out with.

“Liars” is a story about overcoming the limits others put on you. Everyone always likes to tell you what you can and can’t do, but more frequently what you can’t do. “They’re all liars” about who they are, who I am, and who I am capable of becoming. This song also speaks to the idea of bottling things up. We all do it for many different reasons. We like to lock thoughts away to avoid hurting people’s feelings or being judged a certain way. It’s easy to become “lost” in a sea of thoughts that you hold inside and you can often feel lonely if you spend a good amount of time in your head. You may find yourself wondering who, if anyone, will be able to find you and pull you back to shore. You might think it better to just let go and sink to the bottom. For me, I have a lot to live for. So I’m going to pay the price to find what I am in every way. Everything comes with a cost of hard work and lots of sacrifices and I don’t know about all of them, but I am willing to pay that price to become the example I need to be for the ones I love most.
